PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remaining life estimation method and system, capable of efficiently using resources by preventing useless update of an apparatus to be diagnosed, reducing the size of a storage means by using a single function used for remaining life estimation, and reducing costs, and to provide a maintenance/update plan creation method and a creation system capable of creating an appropriate plan based on an estimated remaining life.;SOLUTION: With both of a salt component contained in dust deposited on a printed circuit board in the apparatus to be diagnosed and ambient humidity of the printed circuit board as parameters, the condition of the formation of a short circuit between patterns on the printed circuit board is previously determined as a master curve indicting he relation between short-circuiting humidity during the short-circuit formation between the patterns and the amount of deposition of the salt component. The remaining life of the apparatus to be diagnosed (printed circuit board) is estimated and computed through the use of the master curve; a current measurement value of the amount of deposition of the salt component contained in the dust deposited on the printed circuit board; a measurement value of the ambient humidity, and a cleaning history of the printed circuit board or a deposition rate of the salt component according to the time of introduction of the apparatus to be diagnosed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
