PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous electrolyte for an electric double layer capacitor that has an operating temperature range superior to that of a conventional aqueous electrolyte, and a superior rate of repeated charging.;SOLUTION: The aqueous electrolyte for the electric double layer capacitor includes a solution having at least a first salt and a second salt. The cation of the first salt is Li+, Na+ or K+ and the anion of the first salt is Cl-, SO42-, PO43- or NO3-.
