PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diamond-coated tool having excellent chipping resistance and wear resistance.;SOLUTION: In the diamond-coated tool, a diamond film is coated on a surface of a tool base body. The diamond film is constituted of diamond crystal grains having a columnar structure with its aspect ratio being ≥2. One to ten stages of very small areas formed of very small columnar crystal diamond of the average thickness of 0.05-0.5 μm are formed on the average in the film thickness direction. The intensity ratio of the non-diamond carbon peak intensity I2 to the diamond peak intensity I1 by the Raman spectroscopic analysis is 0.5I1/I21 in the very fine area of the diamond crystal grains having the columnar crystal structure, and I1/I21.5 for the diamond crystal grains having other columnar crystal structure than that in the very small area.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
