Evaluation method of effectiveness of interferon / ribavirin combination therapy for hepatitis C

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for judging the efficacy of a treatment method including the simultaneous use of an interferon/ribavirin before starting the treatment or at an initial stage after starting the treatment. PSOLUTION: This method for judging the efficacy of the simultaneous use of the interferon/ribavirin for the treatment of hepatitis C comprises an investigation whether the arginine at 70th position of amino acid sequence in its core region of the hepatitis C virus contained in a specimen collected from a patient infected with hepatitis C virus genotype 1b type is varied to another amino acid or not, and also whether the amino acid at the 91st position is methionine or not.
