PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new environmental decontaminating agent by which an object to be decontaminated, which is contaminated with hexavalent chromium, can be decontaminated at a low cost without producing harmful gasses such as SOx and which hardly arouses concern about a bad influence on the environment and to provide a method for manufacturing the environmental decontaminating agent advantageously and a method for removing hexavalent chromium by using the environmental decontaminating agent.;SOLUTION: A composition obtained by blending 46-62 wt.% dredged bottom mud to be obtained from the bottom of a water system, 6-18 wt.% wood chips and 25-37 wt.% sodium silicate in terms of solid content is sintered to obtain a sintered compact having a porous structure.
