PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a plurality of pulses to emit at a pulse interval shorter than a pulse period which can be generated by a laser beam source.;SOLUTION: In an optical disk device 1, a pulse train creating section 11 causes the laser beam source 21 to emit the light beam L1 containing pulses P0 and a pulse conversion section 23 divides the light beam L1 into the pulse train PL composed of four pulses with the interval of about 1 [ns]. An optical pickup 7 converges the light beam L containing the pulse trains PL on a recording layer 101 by an objective lens 8. Thus, the optical pickup 7 can generate a reaction caused by an excited state absorption by second and succeeding pulses P2 to P4 while keeping the excited state of a recording material M which is generated by two-photon absorption of a first pulse P1 in the neighborhood of a focus F of the light beam L, and therefore a recording mark RM can be formed on a recording layer 101 in an extremely short period of time.
