PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a free visual point image capable of easily performing interpolation processing of light beam information even in a case in which depth parallax is unignorable. PSOLUTION: In an environment where a plurality of cameras with horizontal optical axes is disposed on a real space surrounding a subject (e.g., on a circumference), an image of an optional visual point on the circumference is generated. The real space is divided to a plurality of local areas (S3), and a certain local area is selected (S5). The image coordinate system of each camera is subjected to rotary coordinate transformation so that the optical axes of all the camera are turned to the selected local area (S6). The image of each camera is enlarged or reduced so that the scale of the local area on the image is equal to each other (S7). A free visual point image of only the local area is generated by means of image based rendering or the like (S8). Inverse transformations of S7 and S6 are performed (S9, S10).
