PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for generating virtual three-dimensional stereophonic sound in a mobile platform such as a terminal for mobile communication, to which expensive equipment for generating three-dimensional stereophonic sound is hardly mounted by reducing a calculation amount and complexity while securing stability of a system.;SOLUTION: The method for generating three-dimensional stereophonic sound includes a first step in which a (interaural) time delay difference (ITD: Inter-aural Time Delay) is imparted to one or more input sound signals, and then, the signals are output; a second step for multiplying the output signal of the first step with a main component weight value (principal component weight); and a third step in which the result value of the second step is filtered with a low-order model of a large number of fundamental vectors (basis vectors) extracted from a head transfer function (HRTF: Head Related Transfer Function).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
