PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the mechanical strength of a display device equipped with a display panel, a touch panel mounted on a surface side of the display panel, and a cover body that holds the touch panel.;SOLUTION: In manufacturing a display device comprising a display panel, a touch panel mounted on a surface side of the display panel, and a cover body having an opening portion for holding the touch panel, a peripheral edge portion of the touch panel is welded to a brim portion of the opening portion of the cover body while melting the brim portion of the opening portion of the cover body such that the brim portion becomes thicker than a portion around the brim portion, thereby forming a thick wall portion having a larger thickness than the surrounding area and a mounting portion on which the peripheral edge portion of the touch panel is mounted, on the brim portion of the opening portion of the touch panel.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
