PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method and system for defining and creating a rigid body to be simulated in a finite element analysis method. PSOLUTION: One or more rigid finite elements in a finite element model are designated such that the rigid finite elements form one or more rigid bodies (RBs) to be simulated. Each RB to be simulated includes an optional number of the rigid finite elements connected to each other, each having an optional shape. Each RB to be simulated is generated by specifying all the elements embedded in the model through a shared node. A procedure using an element definition as a guide sets a series of node flags, so that each node flag to one node can efficiently arrange all the RBs defined in the model. When all the RBs are confirmed, each RB not overlapping the other RBs is defined as a list not overlapping another rigid finite element of the connected rigid finite element.
