PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for fitting in a key member capable of smoothly fitting the key member in a key fitting hole. PSOLUTION: In an imaging part, an objective image is formed on plane coordinates according to the image data on the profile of the objective key fit-in hole 8 extracted from the image taken in by a CCD camera 25. In a calculation processing part, the correction amount A of the objective image in the X-axis direction and the correction amount B thereof in the Y-axis direction on the plane coordinates on which the objective image matches a master image on the plane coordinates are calculated. According to the correction amount A in the X-axis direction and the correction amount B in the Y-axis direction, an NC controller positions the key member 7 at the fit-in position after the correction relative to the objective key fit-in hole 8 by axially moving a key fit-in head 14.
