PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reader/writer capable of obtaining a satisfactory communication state by suppressing damped oscillation of an antenna coil and a communication system that uses the reader/writer. ;SOLUTION: This reader/writer is a reader/writer that can non-contactly communicate with a non-contact information medium having an IC module by using a carrier composed of an electromagnetic wave and has an antenna part for generating the carrier, an antenna driving part for receiving a carrier signal having a waveform composed of prescribed on/off and driving the antenna part, and a damped oscillation canceling part for suppressing damped oscillation that is generated at the antenna part by synchronizing with the prescribed off timing to generate a prescribed pulse signal.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
