[Problem] To provide a method for collecting proteins from animal fibers, which is simple in operation and low in production cost, without using chemicals such as oxidizing agents, reducing agents and surfactants, enzymes and the like. As a dissolution process, animal fibers are dissolved with urea in a molten state to obtain an animal fiber solution. Next, as a separation step, an organic solvent such as water or alcohol is added to the animal fiber solution to precipitate and collect the protein. Alternatively, as the separation step, the animal fiber solution is dialyzed to remove urea, whereby the water-soluble protein and the water-insoluble protein can be separated and collected.
