PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cold storage material of a rare earth oxysulfide having a slight drop of specific heat between peaks and efficiently operating in a wide temperature range and to provide a method for producing the same and a cold storage unit.;SOLUTION: The hybrid cold storage material is obtained by providing a surface composed of a rare earth oxysulfide (e.g. gadolinium oxysulfide) as a nucleus with a layer (e.g. gadolinium-terbium-based oxysulfide) having a composition different from that of the nucleus. The method for producing the hybrid cold storage material comprises granulating (e.g. rolling granulation method) the nucleus of a rare earth oxysulfide (e.g. gadolinium oxysulfide), then gradually supplying powder of a rare earth oxysulfide (e.g. a mixture of gadolinium oxysulfide and terbium oxysulfide) having a composition different from that of the nucleus to the circumference of the nucleus and granulating the rare earth oxysulfide so as to coat the surface of the nucleus with the layer of the rare earth oxysulfide having the composition different from that of the nucleus and firing the obtained hybrid granule.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
