PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a testing method for the mercaptan sulfur content of petroleum series fuel oil capable of accurately calculating and measuring the concentration of the mercaptan sulfur in the fuel oil which contains as small quantity as several ppm by mass or below without risk of calculating and measuring the concentration excessively.;SOLUTION: The testing method for the mercaptan sulfur content based on the potential difference tiltration in order to measure the concentration of the mercaptan sulfur in the petroleum series fuel oil is to perform the potential difference tiltration, in which the concentration of a silver nitrate tiltration liquid is made to 0.0005-0.005 mol/L and the sampling quantity of the specimen is made 50-500 mL, and calculate the concentration after correcting the over-tiltrated portion according to the necessity from the measured tiltration quantity of the silver nitrate tiltrating liquid.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
