Probe for measuring oxygen content in biological material, catheter A probe (1) is used for measuring the oxygen content of biological tissue. The probe has at least one optical fiber (2), which at the proximal end is optically couplable on one side to a light source and on the other to a light sensor. An oxygen sensitive dye (5) is optically coupled to a distal end face of the fiber (5). A distal section of fiber (6) including its distal end surface is wrapped together with the dye (6) by a permeable membrane. a liquid impermeable oxygen (7) which defines in the region involved a gas enclosure (8) which surrounds the distal end surface with the dye (5). The probe (1) is a component of a catheter (14) which further has a temperature sensor (30) and preferably a pressure sensor (28). This results in a probe which reduces the sensitivity of the fiber at the measuring point to environmental disturbing influences and improves the interpretation of the measurement results.
