USE OF HILL FOR THE PREVENTION OF THROMBOSIS ASSOCIATED WITH TOTAL PARENTERAL NUTRITION. Choline deficiency is a risk factor for the development of thrombosis in patients with intestinal failure that requires total parenteral nutrition. A method of preventing thrombosis, preferably venous thrombosis, is provided, comprising administering to a patient receiving TPN a nutrient solution comprising choline. a method of diagnosing a risk for thrombosis is also provided which comprises taking a sample from a patient and detecting the level of free choline in the plasma.
