Patent Application for the Extraction and Purification Process of Artemisinin from Solid Artua Annua Mass Using Carbon Dioxide Artemisinin Extraction and Purification Process Using Artemisia Annua Solid Mass Using Less Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Comprising (i) a first extraction step consisting of a contact and dissolution of the supercritical CO 2 particulate solid mass in an extractor (El) obtaining CO 2 2 and dissolved plant drug; (ii) a second purification step consisting of a contact between CO 2 - and plant extract dissolved with a polar fixed phase in a fractionating column (Fi); and (iii) a third elution step consisting of a contact between a mixture of CO 2 ~ and polar fixed phase co-solvent in the fractionating column (FI); (iv) the extractor (El) and the fractionating column (Fi) being arranged in line in the same circuit. further disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition comprising as active ingredient artemisin from this process as described herein; and b) a physiologically acceptable carrier for treating malaria.
