The present invention provides a self-healing composition comprising epoxy microcapsules and hardener encapsulated polyurea microcapsules. More particularly, the present invention comprises a process for micro-encapsulation of epoxy and micro-encapsulation of hardener inside polyurea microcapsules for self-healing application. The self healing composition as obtained has self-healing capability at room temperature, has better thermal and chemical stability, good storage stability, excellent solvent resistance, good healing efficiency, and appropriate mechanical strength. In addition, the self-healing coating is stable at curing temperatures, reports good triggering time and healing time.
