The present invention relates to an ignition mechanism (2) for igniting a fuel in an internal combustion engine, and an internal combustion engine and/or vehicle provided therewith. The ignition mechanism (2) comprises: a body (6); and an electrode (4) provided on or in the body (6) and positioned centrally in the body (6), wherein one electrode (4) is operatively connected to a ring (12) located around the outer end of the electrode (4). The ignition mechanism (2) is preferably provided with a prechamber (24) positioned between the outer end (22) of the centrally positioned electrode (4) and the outlet (26).
