METHOD FOR ASSESSMENT OF RESERVOIR FUNCTION OF ORTHOTOPIC ILEAL URINARY BLADDER

A method for the assessment of the reservoir function of orthotopic ileal urinary bladder provides for perfusion of the fluid via the standard catheter inserted into the ileal urinary bladder and the measurement of the filling volume of neobladder, the pressure in bladder and urethra. The patient is in half-sitting position at the angle of 45 °. The second catheter is placed in urethra in such a way that the internal opening is located in the area of urethral sphincter. The flow rate of the fluid applied to neobladder and urethra is 20 mL/min. The pressure in the bladder and urethra is recorded until the moment when the pressure in the bladder is equal or superior to that in urethra. The filling volume of neobladder in such setting characterizes the reservoir function of orthotopic ileal urinary bladder.
