Techniques for flocculating and dewatering fine tailings are described. Thetechniques caninclude adding flocculant into the fine tailings, subjecting the flocculatedfine tailings to shearconditioning to produce a gel stage material, subjecting the gel stagematerial to shearconditioning to reach a water release stage, and then dewatering theflocculated materialwithin the water release stage. The techniques can also include variousprocess and systemfeatures, such as flocculant injector design features and configurations.
