The present invention discloses a 64B/66B coding and decoding device, a 64B/66B coding and decoding method. This invention realizes a coding process and a decoding process. The coding process comprises: carrying out coding mapping of every characters according to eight 8-bit data and one 8-bit control signal transmitted by a media independent interface (XGMII); generating payloads, a synchronization field and a block type field, as well as outputting those three in parallel; generating 66-bit output data. The decoding process comprises: decoding the received 66-bit data to obtain the eight 8-bit data and the one 8-bit control signal which are in accord with the XGMII interface.
