The invention relates to a method for measuring the switching time of an on-load tap changer and to a measuring circuit suitable therefor. In said method, the on-load tap changer is switched over, specific courses of measurement voltages are determined and the edges thereof detected. By comparing the real measured edges with target values stored in advance in nonvolatile memory, it can be determined if the switching sequence of the tested on-load tap changer corresponds to the target values.
