A printed organic electronic device comprising a well-defining bank structure. The bank is formed by depositing a solution comprising a mixture of a first insulating material (e.g. polymer resist) and a second insulating material (e.g. fluorinated polymer) on substrate 701, baking the mixture to phase separate the materials and performing lithographic patterning to form well 704. The second insulating material has a lower wettability (higher contact angle) than the first insulating material and phase separates in a direction away from substrate 701 forming a bank comprising wetting lower portion 700 and de-wetting upper portion 702. Three zones can also form with an intermediate layer (906, fig. 9) comprising a mixture of the first and second insulating materials. Organic semiconductive or conductive material is deposited in well 704 to form organic light emitting displays (OLEDs) or thin film transistors (OTFTs).
