A method of controlling a watching time of a multi-unit digital satellite broadcast receiver is provided to prevent children from watching a television intemperately by controlling the watching time of the children. One subordinate unit sets a valid watching time of each subordinate unit through a menu picture. Watching time setting information of each subordinate unit is transmitted to a main unit. The main unit stores watching time setting information and then transmits this information to a corresponding subordinate unit. The main unit compares a current time with a valid watching time of each unit and thereby determines whether there is a unit that departs from the valid watching time(602). When there is the unit that departs therefrom, the main unit stops transmitting the program to the subordinate unit(604) and transmits a message of valid watching time inactivation thereto(605). After a predetermined time period has passed, electric power of the subordinate unit is forcibly turned off(607).
