A method of putting restriction on watching a multi-unit digital satellite broadcast receiver is provided to make it easy to set restriction on watching each subordinate unit by making it possible to set the restriction on watching channels and programs of all subordinate units in one subordinate unit. A grade level of restriction on watching a program of each subordinate unit is set through a menu picture in one subordinate unit. Information on a watching restriction grade of each subordinate unit is transmitted to a main unit. When the main unit receives the information thereon, it transmits the information to a corresponding subordinate unit. This subordinate unit compares the information thereon included in a program with watching restriction grade information of itself set in advance. Display of the program is restricted if a watching restriction grade level included in the program exceeds a watching restriction grade level set in advance.
