PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for generating a parity check matrix in a communication system using low-density parity-check codes and a channel encoding and decoding method using the same are provided to decode and encode an LDPC code having various block length by suboptimizing a cycle characteristic from one parity inspection matrix.;CONSTITUTION: A method for generating a parity check matrix in a communication system using low-density parity-check codes comprises the steps of: determining a basic parameter of a parity inspection matrix to be generated(510), wherein the basic parameter includes the size of grouping-target information words and the block length of an LDPC code; defining a partial matrix corresponding to the parity inspection matrix in a predetermined structure(520); calling a sequence corresponding to the information words of the given parity inspection matrix(530); and determining the parity inspection matrix corresponding to an information word bit of the parity inspection matrix through a predetermined process(540).;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
