PURPOSE: A health food and therapeutic agent for treating urinary system disorder containing flavonoid compounds is provided to suppress contraction of prostate and bladder smooth muscle. ;CONSTITUTION: A therapeutic agent for treating prostatic hyperplasia or hypersensitive bladder disorder contains chrysoeriol of chemical formula 3 as an active ingredient. Chrysoeriol of chemical formula 3 is isolated from Maydis stigmata. A method for isolating chrysoeriol comprises: a step of extracting Maydis stigmata by hot water extraction and filtering to collect soluble parts of Maydis stigmata extract; a step of fractioning the soluble parts by ethyl acetate(EA) and solvent fraction to obtain ethyl acetate fraction; a step of performing Low pressure liquid column chromatography to obtain 7 sub-fractions; a step of concentrating the solution by performing YMC-gel ODS-A; a step of performing Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography of the concentrate; and a step of performing prep-TLC(chloroform:methanol=10:1).;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
