The present invention relates to a metal electrode having an aligned hybrid nanoporous metal pillar and a method of manufacturing the same. By simple electroplating, we were able to produce a hybrid nanoporous metal column with three-dimensional nanopores on its surface and two-dimensionally aligned pillars on a thin film. Specifically, the aligned hybrid nanoporous metal column according to the present invention has a hybrid structure in which two-dimensional pillars are formed on a metal thin film and nanopores of a three-dimensional network on a surface thereof. The hybrid nanoporous metal electrode according to the present invention can provide both extreme surface area of nanopores and fast mass transfer due to micropaths, and can be usefully used for fuel cells, electrical catalysts, neural measurements or stimulation electrodes.
