PURPOSE: The power-saving system of an automatic teller machine and a method thereof are provided to operate the automatic teller machine only when a user approaches.;CONSTITUTION: An automatic teller machine comprises a proximity sensing part(310), a power controller(320), and an automation processing part(330). The proximity sensing part senses the access of a user using a sensor. The power controller supplies a power source to each configuration module of the proximity sensing part when the user is located within sensing distance of the sensor. The power controller secludes the power source which is provided to each configuration module when the user is not located within the sensing distance of the sensor.
