Headrests, method of controlling the same, methods of preventing falling asleep at the wheel and drunk driving

The present invention relates to a headrest, a headrest control method and a method for preventing drowsy driving and drunk driving using the headrest.  The headrest of the present invention comprises: a body; a vertical motion guide which permits a headrest mounted on a vehicle seat to move in the vertical direction; a pivot mechanism which permits the body to pivot forward/rearward with respect to the seat; an automatic and manual actuation mechanism which respectively controls the pivoting motion of the body automatically and manually; and a mounting section which is connected to the lateral surface of the body to rotate independent of the body and has a connection element.  With the help of a headrest, a headrest control method and a method for preventing drowsy driving and drunk driving using the headrest of the present invention, it is possible to stop drunk driving and to prevent drowsy driving accidents by determining whether a driver has fallen asleep while driving.  Also, the height and angle of the headrest can be adjusted automatically or manually to fit a passenger, which gives the passenger comfort and lessens the shock for the passenger in the event of an accident.  Further, car accidents caused by cell phone use can be avoided, and the pivot motion of a headrest of the present invention ensures the front field of vision to a rear seat passenger as well as the rear field of vision to a driver for safe driving.
