The present invention uses a GPS-enabled portable terminal for wider use in a situation in which location information is provided in a limited form by using a GPS-enabled portable terminal as a location data input device for providing location data of a vehicle navigation system. A vehicle navigation system and method thereof are provided. To this end, the present invention provides a navigation device for displaying vehicle navigation information using location data; A position calculating device which receives a GPS signal from a GPS satellite and updates orbit information of a GPS satellite in real time; A mobile terminal which receives and stores the GPS satellite orbit information from the position calculating device and provides continuous position data to the navigation apparatus using the stored GPS satellite orbit information, thereby providing navigation without additional GPS receivers. It is effective to provide continuous position data to the device.
