Slabs or strips are produced at plant 1 comprising teeming machine 2, rough group stand 7, finishing group stands 12 and roll collector 8 built in roll table between stands 7 and 12. To operate the plant in intermittent or semi-continuous mode, roll collector 8 accumulates solid rolls fed from rough group stands 7 wherein two, three or more rough strips or slabs may be coiled.
