FIELD: machine building.;SUBSTANCE: coating consists of two metal oxides formed as result of oxidation of fine dispersed powders of two corresponding metals with oxygen in oxygen containing gas under pressure on surface of material of base in region of sliding contact. Coating is formed on surface in the region of sliding contact with contacting element and has thickness from 0.1 to 2 mcm. Each of the said metals has hardness and temperature of melting lower, than material of the base; one of the said two metal oxides has hardness higher, than the other. The procedure for forming coating consists in impact treatment of surface in the region of sliding contact with mixed fluid medium generated with oxygen containing gas under pressure and fine dispersed powders of two said metals at pressure of medium ejection at least 0.58 MPa or at rate of ejection at least 200 m/s. There are produced metal oxides on surface in the region of sliding contact and there is formed metal oxide film consisting of two metal oxides.;EFFECT: manufacture of coating of low friction, low resistance of shear and with possibility to concentrate viscous fractures in it which prevents wear of base and coating material and damage of contacting counterpart.;16 cl, 6 dwg, 5 tbl, 5 ex
