The clamping unit (1) has a profile roller (9) guided in a guide (12), where the guide is inclined in a clamping direction (8) such that a gap formed between the guide and a component (2) to be clamped is tapered in the clamping direction. A clamping actuator (13) i.e. spring, provides force for pushing or pulling the profile roller in the clamping direction, and a releasing device (16) i.e. control piston, releases clamping of the component. The releasing device is formed and arranged such that pressure or tension acts on the profile roller opposite to the clamping direction.
