The method involves determining a reference initial detection distance between the moving vehicle and objects with defined shape at the detection of the objects by the parking space measurement sensor. A reference recent detection distance is determined between the moving vehicle and objects with defined shape during recent detection of objects by the parking space measurement sensor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program product; and (2) a device for detecting a rotation of a parking space measurement sensor of a motor vehicle.
