The transponder (1) has an electronic circuit, and two antennae arranged orthogonal to each other and designed as coils. The antennae are connected with the electronic circuit. The coils are connected in parallel or in series at an antenna unit (3), which is connected to an input of the electronic circuit. The electronic circuit is formed as an integrated circuit-component (4) having an antenna-input that is connected to the antenna unit. The coils are arranged on a common coil body. An independent claim is also included for a method for designing a transponder for radio frequency identification-applications.
