The viewing- and protection window (1) comprises an inner disk (2) arranged in direction to the laser device, and an outer disk (3) spatially arranged to the inner disk, where the disks consist of a material transparent for visible light. The material of the outer disk turned away from the laser device is a material absorbing the laser radiation of the laser, so that the material of the outer disk evaporates by the absorption of the radiation and so that a medium and a sensor for detecting the characteristic change in the medium evoked by the evaporated material are present in a space (4).
