The device (1) has a switching rod (2) carrying an actuating unit (15). Two drivers are bi-directional adjustable and coupled to switching elements of a transmission by a coupling element (8) in a mounted state. The actuating unit, the drivers and the coupling element are designed such that selection of the drivers takes place by rotation (3) of the switching rod by the actuating unit. An adjustment of the selected driver for engagement of a gear associated with adjustment directions (9, 10) of the adjusted driver takes place by an axial displacement (5) of the switching rod.
