The system (15) has a fresh air supply line (17) controlled by a butterfly valve (2). A turbocharger is provided with a compressor (1) and an exhaust gas-operated turbine (1.1). An exhaust gas purification device (12) is arranged in an exhaust gas stream. Another compressor (5) is arranged in an exhaust gas-return line (14) and is driven by a drive mechanism (5.1) e.g. electrical machine, for producing a mechanical rotational energy. A power output and/or speed of the mechanism are controlled depending on operating parameters of an internal-combustion engine (9). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for controlling an exhaust gas system (2) a control system for controlling exhaust gas streams of an exhaust gas system.
