The navigation system (1) has a position determining device (30) and an evaluation device (10) which is connected with a detection device (20) and the position determination device. The evaluation device is designed to compare the information about the driving condition or the driving environment of the motor vehicle with an expected driving condition or with an expected driving environment for the selected map location and to transmit a signal during a deflection of the position determining device. An independent claim is also included for a method for position determining of a motor vehicle.
