The method involves correcting a stationary torque with respect to a dynamic torque during speed change conditions based on load conditions in an internal combustion engine. A proportionality factor signal is output from a proportionality factor unit (14) based on an operation signal. A speed signal is output by a speed detecting unit (16). The dynamic torque is determined based on changes of a rotational speed quadrate using a proportionality factor, which influences the moment of inertia of a drivetrain. An independent claim is also included for a device for performing a method for determining an operative torque.
