The device has a map section arranged in a display (1) of a navigation system for representing cruising range information of a motor vehicle on the display. The range information is determined based on energy supply and energy consumption rate of the motor vehicle, where the range information is reproduced for different driving directions. The energy consumption rate is randomly changed by a rotating movement of an adjusting unit.
