The battery (1) has single cells (2) i.e. lithium ion cells, forming a cell stack (Z), and a cooling device provided with a cooling plate (3) and arranged at the cell stack for tempering the cells. The single cells are pressed into the cooling plate by a printed circuit board (5) that comprises contact elements for electrical contacting of the cells. The board is fastened in a middle region of the cell stack, and the contact elements are connected with an electrical element. The electrical element is designed as a cell voltage compensation element or a cell voltage monitoring element.
