The method involves leading light (2) emitted and/or reflected by a monochrome display device (3) by color filters (4, 4') for producing single-colored area (1, 1') on display area (6), where the color filter is transparent for the color of the light of the single-colored area. The color filter is arranged parallel to the monochrome display device such that light emitting and/or reflecting area of the monochrome display device is covered by the color filter that is designed as a passive color filter. An independent claim is also included for a display for a vehicle.
