The component has an edge-emitting laser diode element and an optics unit i.e. mirror, that is provided with a partially transparent transmission element and an optically effective surface. The optically effective surface is spaced at a distance from a radiation emission section by a free space. A sealing device (60) is provided for sealing the free space with respect to surrounding and includes a closed sealing ring (61). Sealing ring sections accomplish sealing of partial contributions between the optics unit and contact bodies, respectively.
