The system has an exhaust gas system (1) provided with a bypass (3). Additive flows from exhaust gas with flow rate lying in predetermined minimum flow rate during regulating work operation of an internal combustion engine. Volume flow that is guided via the bypass and branched from a main channel (4) of the exhaust gas system is adjusted over a parameter of a free flow cross-section in a part of the main channel. The additive is injected into the bypass through an injector.
