The cell has a semiconductor substrate (3) comprising a substrate surface (31), where a contact layer (1) is arranged on the substrate surface. Another contact layer (2) is arranged on the former contact surface, where the two contact layers are made of two electrically conductive materials, respectively. A barrier layer (4) is arranged between the two contact layers such that the barrier layer prevents material mixture between the two contact layers. The barrier layer is made of metal such as titanium, vanadium, nickel, tungsten, hafnium, tantalum, silver and/or metal alloy. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a solar cell.
