The method involves operating injection nozzles with normal operating parameters. One of the injection nozzles deviating from normal operation due to conducted manipulation, is operated with a variable operating parameter. The normal operation is regulated for the injection nozzle by regulating the variable operating parameter. A correction value is evaluated for the regulated operating parameter. Spraying distance between two injections of the selected injection nozzle is varied as the operating parameter to be changed. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for monitoring an operation of an internal combustion engine.
